In the design and construction phase, close attention is being paid to sound environmentally friendly practices. The buildings are being designed to maximize shade and to take advantage of natural ventilation, so that electricity used in air conditioning can be kept to a minimum.
Only plantation-grown sustainable use timber will be used, and where natural stones can be used in preference to timber, this is the architects’ choice.

Karang Indah’s design is solar passive, which means that its form and siting take into take advantage of shade and ventilation, thus reducing the need for air conditioning.

A biologically-based waste water recycling system treats household water so it can be re-used to water the garden and grounds.

The pool uses sea water to reduce the use of harmful chemicals, and its pumps, and those of the reflecting pools utilize solar power.

Significant savings in carbon dioxide emissions will be achieved through the use of electricity generated by solar panels.
