The design is solar passive, which means that Karang Tinggi has been built to provide its own shade and to take advantage of natural ventilation, thus reducing the need for air conditioning.

A clever bio system treats all waste water so it can be re-used for gardening.The pool uses sea water to reduce the use of harmful chemicals, and its pumps, and those of the reflecting pools have solar pumps.Solar panels produce 10,000 kWh of electric power, saving as much as two tonnes in carbon dioxide emissions each year.
